Bus routes available from Chaska to Target Field

SouthWest Transit will offer bus service to Target Field in downtown Minneapolis for all games Monday through Friday. There will be no service on weekends or on Labor Day.

“Twins fans are excited over a new season and a new ballpark,” stated SouthWest CEO Len Simich, in a press release. “This service will offer people a fast, convenient, inexpensive way to get to Target Field with ease.”

The Eden Prairie Twins Express (Route 682B) will operate the following schedule Monday through Friday, with return scheduled for 20 minutes after the last out.



Chaska's Degler collects Triple-A Award

Ellen Degler is a triple threat, competing at an All Lake-Conference and All-State level in three sports at Chaska.

Not only that, the senior plays violin in orchestras and clarinet in the marching and concert bands, is active in 4-H and competing at the county and state fairs.

It makes sense than, that she collect an award to reflect her many talents.

Degler received the Triple-A Award for Region 2AA in an on-court ceremony at the state boys basketball tournament on March 27.



Chaska Cubs leadoff party set for Saturday, April 10

Athletic Park may be a little wet right now, but the Chaska Cubs amateur baseball team are planning for a long, successful summer full of fun.

The Cubs host their annual leadoff party from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, April 10 at the Chaska American Legion in downtown Chaska.

The team will serve free hot dogs, beans, chips and apple pie ala mode.

Sign up or renew a Cubs Dugout Club membership and receive a free T-shirt and passes to the Cubs home games, which include free popcorn and beverages.



Cubs find home at Target Field

When the Twins take bat against St. Louis in their new home, Target Field, tonight, fans will also be able to experience a little bit of Chaska ball.

The Town Ball Pub, on the main concourse of the new stadium, is a tribute to local Minnesota baseball.

According to a recent city newsletter, the pub will include an enlarged print of Terry Fogarty’s “Summer Anthem,” which features Chaska’s Athletic Park, home to the Cubs.

Greening up: Chaska Town Course ready for golfers

It’s bit of golf history for Chaska.

When the Chaska Town Course season began yesterday, March 31, it was the earliest opener since the 1997 founding of the city’s award-winning golf course.

“Historically it’s always been between the fourth and 17th of April,” said Head Golf Professional John Kellin. “This is the earliest we’ve ever gone.”

The Chaska Town Course and the Chaska Par 30 will open for play for the 2010 season on Wednesday, March 31.

Both courses will begin taking tee time reservations on Monday, March 29.

Tee times will be available starting at 9 a.m.

Saints swim to Athletic Park for May 8 exhibition game

It may be under water now, but Athletic Park is already slated to see some action in May.

The St. Paul Saints will continue a three-year tradition of playing a local amateur team in its home ballpark, barnstorming their way to Chaska for an exhibition game, according to a press release.

On Saturday, May 8 the Saints will take on the River Valley League All-Stars at Athletic Park in Chaska at 6 p.m.
