Greg BoeGreg Boe has announced his candidacy for Ward 2 on the Chaska City Council.

Boe is the first person to announce candidacy for the position, currently held by Bob Lindall.

Chaska City Administrator David Pokorney was presented with the George C. Klein Award last month at the annual Chaska Rotary banquet last month.

The Klein Award is given to individuals that display service above self in the community. Pokorney, who has been city administrator for 24 years, was recognized for his outstanding leadership in Chaska.

Fire Department Officers approved: The council approved three leadership positions for the Chaska Volunteer Fire Department.

Lyman Boulevard: The council approved Phase 1 of the Lyman Boulevard Improvements Project near the future Chanhassen High School.

Southwest Christian High School: The council voted 3-1 to approve the concept plan for a new Southwest Christian High School at the southeast corner of Bavaria Road and new Highway 212.

TIF District No. 4: The council voted to extend the city's No. 4 TIF district until the year 2014.

* Public hearing for the extension of TIF district No. 4 to 2014

* Revised concept plan for Southwest Christian High School

* Concept plan for Carver County CDA building on Bavaria Road

A new Highway 41 Minnesota River crossing may still be decades away, but what if the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) chose the central option? What would happen to downtown Chaska? How would it look? How would it feel? How would it sound?

Bavaria realignment: The council will continue to explore the possible realignment of Bavaria Road at Hundertmark. Next step will be to discuss a land swap with the Jonathan Association.

Although none of the options for a future Highway 41 Minnesota River crossing have been taken off the table as yet, Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) staff now admits that central option C-2 was once their preferred alternative and remains a top contender.
