While always high on city council priority lists, job creation and development have taken on new urgency in the current economy.
Chaska City Administrator Matthew Podhradsky said efforts in his city to grow development are not new, but “renewed.”
“Up until the point where the new [Highway] 212 came through, we had pretty much filled our industrial areas,” he said. “With a highway coming through, that opened up land. We’ve had a renewed focus on continuing to develop jobs.”
After another hiccup, the windmill is back online again and spinning like crazy with today's wind. According to the most recent city hall bulletin, last week, one of the spoilers experienced a leakage of hydraulic fluid. The valve was immediately closed off to stop the leaking, but there is still work that requires a boom truck to come in and complete repairs. This is part of the commissioning process MMPA is going through to address any issues with each of the 12 turbines in the system to get them fully functional. (Photo by Mollee Francisco)
