Boil spaghetti noodles (I prefer angel hair) in heavily salted water until al dente (7-8 minutes or so). Drain noodles and plate immediately. Grate tons of pecarino romano cheese (available in the specialty cheese section of your grocery store) on top of the noodles and then a generous portion of freshly ground black pepper. Add a spoonful or so of the still-hot pasta water and toss. (The heat of the noodles will melt the cheese) Recent Forum Poststhe Backyard Rain GaugeMay 4, 2008 - 9:52am — Greg BoeNow that spring is finally here, it is time to break out "the Rain Gauge" once again. Throughout the summer of 2008, you will find the official National Weather Service rainfall totals for the city of Chaska posted within this forum. And, of course, you can always pull up a chair in the backyard and visit with friends about the weather, recent storm damage, any weather related phenomenon that you have seen, and/or just about anything else that you would like to talk about! Made of Honor... againMay 1, 2008 - 4:55pm — Mollee FranciscoI can't help but notice the constant barrage of "Made of Honor" trailers and promotions on television of late. I understand how this movie will provide a welcome retreat for the intended demographic that might otherwise be dragged to "Ironman," but come on - this movie has already been made. Remember when it was called "My Best Friend's Wedding"? What's that macaroni & cheese's carbon footprint?May 1, 2008 - 3:12pm — Mollee FranciscoSick of worrying about how bad that package of shredded cheese is for your health? Now you can fret over how much its production is affecting the Earth, too. British grocery chain Tesco is implementing a two-year trial of its carbon footprint program. It will label 20 store brand items for their overall environmental impact from point of manufacture through disposal. Detergents, orange juice, potatoes and light bulbs are among the few test items revealing the carbon emissions associated with their product. History Redux: Military Re-enactorsMay 1, 2008 - 2:39pm — Mark OlsonI was intrigued by a press release that came in this morning from Traxler’s Hunting Preserve in Le Center. The Preserve is presenting “Living Military History Day” with a WWII re-enactment of a battle on May 31. Jonathan Garage Sales this Saturday - What will be this year's trend?April 25, 2008 - 1:25pm — Mark OlsonCool weather will be the setting for Saturday’s annual Jonathan Festival of Garage Sales. The event is 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., April 26 and sponsored by St. Andrew West Lutheran Church, 112090 Hundertmark Road. (The church has garage sales maps.) If past years are any indicator, thousands of people will once again crowd Jonathan cul de sacs seeking the latest and greatest of used goods. Recent Blog PostsBig Fat Bridal Blog: How young is too young?May 9, 2008 - 12:11pm — Mollee FranciscoWhile we have been obsessing over getting our own wedding invitations printed, other wedding invitations have been filling our mailbox, signaling the beginning of the wedding season. These are joyous occassions for our friends who are ready to take that next big step in their adult lives. But somewhere amidst adding wedding dates to our calendar, news of another wedding came tumbling through the grapevine - a wedding we were, quite honestly, less than ecstatic about: My nineteen-year-old cousin had just accepted a wedding proposal from her boyfriend. Help me raise money for Charity!May 8, 2008 - 8:56pm — mherzog33I'm never one to shy away from a physical challenge. I've completed seven running marathons, an 87 mile inline race, countless inline marathons, a triathlon (even though I still can't swim), and many more challenging races. Today though, I am training to participate in a 100 mile "Century" bike ride called "America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride" as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. Many of my other races have been rewarding but there is an extra incentive with this one as I'll be racing for a cause. American Idol: Rock N DrollMay 6, 2008 - 8:16pm — Mollee FranciscoSome theme nights seem to have too few songs to choose from, while others seem so vast that the contestants' minds are blown to bits. I think that was the case tonight. Where else would you expect to hear Duran Duran, Tina Turner, Bob Dylan and Elvis Presley? Talk about hitting random on your iPod. It didn't seem to do anyone much good to have so many songs to choose from. No one blew me away tonight - a bit disappointing considering we are getting down to the wire. |
