Pasta Cacio E Pepe: So simple yet so good!

» Read similar stories filed under:

My latest favorite recipe find is a super simple but very tasty pasta dish.

Boil spaghetti noodles (I prefer angel hair) in heavily salted water until al dente (7-8 minutes or so).

Drain noodles and plate immediately.

Grate tons of pecarino romano cheese (available in the specialty cheese section of your grocery store) on top of the noodles and then a generous portion of freshly ground black pepper.

Add a spoonful or so of the still-hot pasta water and toss. (The heat of the noodles will melt the cheese)

A group to help our seniors and their families

My name is Cindy and I own Heart To Heart Seniorcare. I have helped seniors for the past 8 years, and I LOVE what I do! It's my "calling" in life! I feel there is alot of seniors and their loved ones out there that need our help, whether its in-home care, a place to find resources, a support group, dementia/alzhemier's information, how a senior can stay safe in their homes, how to avoid moving a senior to a nursing home/assisted living, providing respite care for loved ones and just someplace to get some answers. This group will hopefully do all that plus more!

Falling for Fall TV

» Read similar stories filed under:

If there's any silver lining to the end of summer, it's got to be the beginning of a new season of television. There's so much hope and promise in the air (at least until new series are canceled a week or two in). What returning shows are you looking forward to? What new shows are you planning to check out? What cancelled/ended shows will you be mourning?

BEWARE! Magazine door-to-door salesmen

» Read similar stories filed under:

Today we had a visit from SYN, Inc. saying they sales magazines and offer an additional donation for Red Cross. My spouse ordered a children's magazine and gave additional to the Red Cross. After the salesman left, I was made aware of this transaction and immediately saw red flags. I googled SYN, Inc. and saw article after article of how they scam people. Just then my husband received a call from our salesman stating he "forgot something". At that time my husband decided to ask for his check back.

Depends on your perspective.

Cropaganda 2010: Only a kernel of political art

» Read similar stories filed under:

After a few barn-burner years, political crop art appears to be on the outs at the Minnesota State Fair. (See 2008 selections here and 2009 selections here.)

There was nary a rendering of U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann to be found in the Agriculture Horticulture building. Last year she popped up three times.

Summer's final stretch

The Cubs' 6-3 loss to Rochester signals not only the end of the team’s state tournament run, but something much more ominous – summer’s final stretch.

Not convinced? How about this week’s cool weather? You don’t even need air conditioning.

Are you listening? Of course the leaves are still green. But they’re a “tired” green. The type of green that isn’t long for this world. You can almost see the golds and oranges bursting out.

A Ghost Where I Work

Some times when a person moves into a new apartment or a new home, if there is a spirit in there, they usually reveal themselves to the new tenants within a few weeks.
Note the key word here is sometimes. It depends on the motive of the spirit.

This is also true for your place of employment.

First Simon, now Ellen - Who will judge Season 10 of American Idol?

» Read similar stories filed under:

Now that American Idol's meanest and nicest judges have left, loyal watchers have to be wondering who the heck might be sitting at the judges' table for Season 10.

Most of us had just got used to the idea of no Simon Cowell next year when along comes funny lady Ellen Degeneres statement last night confirming that she, too, was bowing out from the reality TV powerhouse.

So what happens next? We can't honestly be expected to endure the likes of Randy "Dawg" Jackson and Kara "Cougartown" DioGuardi alone, can we?
