Preparations are well underway at the City of Chaska as Election Day 2010 fast approaches.

“It’s not going too bad,” said Election Coordinator/City Clerk Margo Steffel, who is overseeing her second election this year, thanks to a rare Special Election to fill the mayor’s seat in January.

Steffel said that officials tested voting machines and programs last Wednesday to ensure all of the equipment needed on Election Day was in working order.



Fall clean up day is Saturday

Chaska Building Center concept withdrawn

It’s back to the drawing board for developers working on the Chaska Building Center site.

A concept plan for the eastern half of the development was withdrawn from the Chaska City Council’s agenda for Monday night after city staff warned that the plan was “not the direction the city wanted to go with the redevelopment of this site.”

Updated: Minnesota River on track to flood again

The f-word is being circulated yet again as the Minnesota River appears to be on track to reach flood stage for a record third time this year.

Due to recent rains, the National Weather Service is currently predicting the river to crest at Jordan (the nearest measuring station) at 32.2 feet next Wednesday, Sept. 29. That figure is six inches higher than the river's crest of 31.66 feet in March. Jordan's flood stage is 25 feet.
