The cross country season sometimes ends with a snow-spackled race. But the season is not quite over yet. One big meet is a wintry casualty - the Victoria Lions Invitational scheduled for today (Tuesday, Oct. 13) at the Chaska Par-30 Golf Course - was cancelled. The Lions invite was already postponed from last week, but the snow and freezing conditions would lead to too much damage to the golf course. "I somewhat understand," Chaska girls cross country coach Scott Stallman said.
The Chaska Town Course has been chosen as Course of the Year by the Minnesota Golf Association (MGA).
The Chaska Town Course bested more than 400 member courses for the honor. The selection criteria includes support of MGA programs, including the Associate Member Program, involvement in the MGA junior program, and support of MGA championships.

It was an all-Chaska pitching matchup for the state amateur baseball tournament championship as Shakopee and Prior Lake met on Monday at Gaylord.
All Chaska pitcher Ryan Seifert did was keep up his string of dominant performances.
Seifert tossed a complete-game two-hitter as Shakopee topped Prior Lake 5-1. Shakopee, with draftee Seifert, won its first state title in exactly 50 years.
Seifert struck out eight and walked one to finish the state tournament with the Most Valuable Player award.
