Chaska Police Chief Scott Knight is featured as an activist on the “Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence” website.
Knight has long been an activist of tightening gun laws. On the site, he notes: "It's personal … A few years ago, one of my officers was shot in the line of duty. And last May, another officer, an uncle to one of my sergeants, was ambushed, shot and killed."

According to Chaska Police a recent e-mail is circulating, which warns Chaska residents about a male who “almost attacked” a female runner, at 5 a.m. on Aug. 2, in the area of Isabella Parkway and Pioneer Trail. The e-mail reports that a “… man dressed in black from head to toe… was hiding [and] jumped out of [a tree line] and went after [the runner]… [the runner] sprinted away… [and the male] went back into the trees.]”
Police say that while the intent of the e-mail is pure, it is not factual.

Wright County Sheriff Gary Miller understands the pressures that a career in law enforcement entails. As a 30-plus-year veteran of the department, he is all too familiar with the stresses his employees face and how it can change them over time.
“Law enforcement jobs damage people,” he said, pointing to higher-than-average divorce, suicide and chemical abuse rates.

Police thought they had their man following a bank robbery Friday afternoon at the TCF Bank in Cub Foods in Shakopee.
A witness recognized the camouflaged hat-wearing robber, who was also picked out of a photo lineup by bank employees. He was arrested, but later released.
“He looked just like the guy,” said Shakopee police Capt. Craig Robson.
This was no practice for next weekend's River City Days water fights. Members of the Chaska Fire Department were on hand Friday night to help wash away potato sludge after a truck spilled its contents on Highway 41. One member of the fire department reported that the truck driver was cut off forcing him to slam on his brakes and lose his load. Highway 41 was closed between Third and Fourth streets for over an hour as crews cleaned up the mess. (Photo by Mollee Francisco)
