Applications are being accepted for the title of Mrs. Carver County 2009
Mrs. Carver County will have the honor of representing the county at the Mrs. Minnesota pageant, which will be held at Ritsche Auditorium, March 14 and 15, 2009 in St. Cloud.
According to an “International Pageant” press release, the woman chosen as Mrs. Carver County “will receive official title and sash.”
The woman chosen as Mrs. Minnesota will receive a prize package worth $7,000, the release stated.
All are welcome to stop by the Chaska Legion on Tuesday, June 3 to share memories and celebrate Bob Downs' retirement from 33 years of coaching Chaska High School girls' basketball.
Appetizers and cake will be served, and a cash bar is available.
The event runs from 4 to 8 p.m. at the lower level of the Chaska Legion, in downtown Chaska.
Youth volleyball players are invited to participate in the upcoming Chaska Summer Volleyball Camp.
The camp is set for June 23-26 at the Chaska High School gyms. It is open to all District 112 students and Chaska Community Center members entering kindergarten through ninth grade in the 2008-09 school year.
Each camper will receive a volleyball. Camp instructors include the staff and players from Chaska High School, as well as other high school or college coaches.

According to the latest newsletter from the Chaska Police Department, Police Chief Scott Knight was recently presented with the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association's (MCPA) President's Award.
At the annual MCPA training conference April 21 – 24, in Duluth, President Mitch Weinzetl presented Chief Scott Knight with the award in "recognition of valuable contributions to the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association (MCPA) and to professional law enforcement."
The Chaska Town Course has been selected to marshal hole No. 1 at Hazeltine National Golf Club for the 2009 PGA Championship.
The Town Course is currently seeking a minimum of 96 and a maximum of 122 volunteers for marshals on the hole.
The event will be held Aug. 10-16, 2009 and Aug. 17 if a playoff is needed.
All volunteers must meet the following criteria:
- Should have knowledge of the game of golf and an understanding of the rules.
Are you ready for some baseball?
The Chaska Cubs amateur baseball team will hold its annual leadoff party on Saturday, April 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Chaska Legion Post 57 in downtown Chaska.
Fans can get a taste of the upcoming season with hot dogs and apple pie served at the party. Minnesota Twins mascot T.C. Bear will be at the party at 5 p.m.
The filing deadline for federal and state taxes is today, April 15.

After a winter of snow and a wintry start to spring, the golf season is finally on the horizon.
The Chaska Town Course , along with the driving range, will open on Friday, April 18.

Earlier this month, the Anna Westin Foundation president announced that the foundation, dedicated to the prevention and treatment of eating disorders, had closed and transferred its assets to another program.
