Carver County Parks needs help to remove buckthorn, an exotic plant, on Sunday Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Lake Minnewashta Regional Park located on Highway 41 between Highway 5 and Highway 7 in Chanhassen.
Crown College in St. Bonifacius will host a six-week Spring Training 2007 baseball program for players in grades 1 through 12 from Jan. 28 to March 11.
Crown College head coach Kyle Ague will direct the program in conjunction with Midwest Baseball Academy. Sessions are offered in advanced hitting and pitching at a cost of $98 for six weeks. Space is limited, and registration is now under way.
Perkins Restaurant opened for business in Chaska Commons last Monday. The franchise owner agreed to forgo the traditional Perkins look in order to fit in with the existing Chaska Commons motif.
Meanwhile, construction continues on Ruby Tuesdays just north of the Perkins Restaurant. The site, originally considered by Applebee’s Neighborhood Bar and Grill, is moving along swiftly. According to city staff, Ruby Tuesdays is looking at an opening date of Nov. 1.
Carver County Parks will be having the 3rd Annual Baylor Campground Chili Cook-off on Saturday Oct. 14. All those camping over the weekend are welcome to make their best chili and enter it for judging at Noon on Saturday in the Community Room of the Barn.
Bring the entire family for the second annual Chaska Turkey Trot, a local 5K walk/run organized by Chaska DECA and the CHS cross country teams.
The race, set for Saturday, Nov. 18 at the high school, also features 1/8-mile and 1/4-mile races for the Lil’ Gobblers.
Snowmobiles will longer be allowed on the LRT trail corridor, which includes Victoria, as of this upcoming winter season – Nov. 15 through March 15. The Three Rivers Park District made the decision earlier this year, preventing snowmobile use on the LRT corridor. The trail is still open for walking, biking, cross-country skiing, and snowboarding.
