Saturday, Chaska’s second food shelf will open to provide food and items for those in need in the community.

The food shelf, dubbed Chaska Food Shelf, will be open two Saturdays a month. It is the brainchild of Oasis Church, which offices in a building next door to the food shelf, located on the northwest corner of Chaska Boulevard (old Highway 212) and Audubon Road.

Winners were announced Saturday in Bloomington. Joshua Spies, from Watertown, South Dakota, took home the top prize. Third place went to Gerald Mobley from Claremont, Oklahoma.

A new senior living complex for Hazeltine Boulevard is still in the conceptual stages, but readying for presentation to the Chaska City Council this fall.

The Goodman Group is currently working on the architectural design for a 150-unit senior living community that would be adjacent to the ninth hole at the Par 30 golf course.

A dinner, awards and silent auction is set for 6 p.m.

The Chaska Men’s Softball League will hold its annual wood bat tournament Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Lions Park in Chaska.
