Local Fitness Boot Camp Trades Turkeys For Workouts To Feed Needy Families

» Read similar stories filed under:

Local Chaska boot camp, Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp, is teaming up with their clients and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chaska to provide relief to needy families this holiday season. In return for every frozen turkey brought in by each camper, Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp will provide a free workout on Saturday, November 21st. The turkeys will be used by St. John’s Lutheran Church to feed families in the Southwest Metro community at their annual Thanksgiving Community Dinner.

Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp Founder Justin Yule, BS, CPT, is a firm believer in giving back to Chaska communities. Yule claims “With the current plight of the economy, it’s clear that we all really need to stick together and help each other out when we can. We have a really tight-knit group of campers and they always go above and beyond in helping others.” Coming off of their successful fundraiser for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, MN that featured a Halloween-themed workout with pumpkins, the Chaska boot camp will now be trading a free workout for every frozen turkey brought in by each participant. Yule goes on further stating “The Chaska community has been so overwhelmingly receptive to our program, so it is an absolute honor to have the resources to be able to give to back to such a great cause. In addition, I live in Chaska and love the supportive community here as well.”

Yule believes that no family should be left without a turkey for the Thanksgiving holiday. “A hot and fresh turkey is an American tradition that no family should be denied,’” says Yule. “We are determined to do everything in our power to make sure that we can ensure this experience for as many needy local families as possible.” The Chaska boot camp will work with St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chaska to collect the turkeys that will be used in the church’s annual Thanksgiving Dinner for the entire Southwest Metro community.

Jean Rollins, parish nurse at St. John’s Lutheran Church and School in Chaska, organizes the Thanksgiving Dinner for the community. “I started this dinner 3 years ago in hopes of uniting the different churches in the area to work together and help the people in need in our own community. The response was amazing. The first year we fed 100 people; last year it was 250 people and this year...who knows how many we will serve.” The dinner is provided for anyone in the Southwest Metro community who won’t be able to experience a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner. Rollins says, “The people served are in need for any variety of reasons: alone, lonely, or financially unable to have a Thanksgiving meal. We offer a full Thanksgiving Dinner in a festive atmosphere, and the fellowship of volunteers, who through their love for Christ are here to serve and care for everyone who attends.”

To make the turkey even tastier for needy families this Thanksgiving, Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp will also be providing one coupon to each recipient family for a free 21-day Holiday Survival Boot Camp to keep them healthy and lean through the holiday season. Their large group workouts feature a music interval training system that burns nine times more fat than ordinary exercise. Yule states, “We help people get fit and burn fat like crazy. And the best part about our training system is the host of equipment-free exercises used. So even if someone cannot continue with our camps they will be able to keep up with their workouts in the comfort of their own home!”

For more information about this wonderful event and to participate in the workout please visit www.JustinYule.com and click on the Thanksgiving Tab at the top of the screen. Registration is FREE (just bring a frozen turkey), but Yule and Rollins hope to add and extra 50 frozen turkeys to the dinner through this event. Please register TODAY so they can keep an accurate tally and best prepare for this generous occasion. Thank you for your support!

This is a wonderful thing that you are doing for your community. I have been trying to come up with some ideas like this for my Oklahoma City Boot Camp and this is marvelous. You guys rock and are an inspiration to more than just your community. Great post and God Bless.
