I don't understand why the speed limit on the new Pioneer Trail extension is only 35 MPH. The old Victoria Drive had a limit of 50 MPH with the old crusty bridge which was barely wide enough for two lanes of traffic. The new road is nice and wide, and has railroad tracks on one side and the golf course on the other. So, there's no danger of children crossing the road here. Even Hundertmark is 40 MPH, and it's filled with crosswalks that are in use all of the time.
Then, as a further insult, we get the State Patrol out on the new road last week, nailing who knows how many folks for speeding. I'm not advocating speeding, but most drivers have a fair sense of safe driving speeds, and when this many people go faster than 35 MPH, perhaps it would be wise to reconsider what the limit should be? All of the other major east-west streets have higher limits, and many more crossings, children present, etc.
