Anton “Dick” Hammers, 97, of Shakopee, died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010 at The Minnesota Masonic Home in Bloomington, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial is Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Purification Catholic Church in Marystown, with the Rev. Jim Van Dorn officiating. Visitation is Tuesday, Nov. 16, from 3-7 p.m. at McNearney Funeral Home, 1220 Third Ave. E., Shakopee, and Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at the church.

Chaska City Council meetings are held the first, third and fifth Mondays of each month at 7 p.m. at Chaska City Hall, One City Hall Plaza.
Zachary Jones, 19, of Runaway Bay, TX, formerly of Chaska, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 in Texas.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m. at the Bertas Funeral Home, 200 W. Third St., Chaska.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Funeral arrangements were with the Bertas Funeral Home of Chaska, 952-448-2137.
Marlyn Puppe, of Chaska, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 with his wife and daughter at his side.
Memorial service to be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at Westwood Community Church, 3121 Westwood Dr., Excelsior, with 10 a.m. visitation and luncheon following service.
In May of this year the Southwest Trails Snowmobile Club and the Carver County Snowmobile Club made a request to the Carver County Park Commission to consider snowmobiling on the Dakota Rail Regional Trail.
A public process to consider the request began with a June 23 open house.
Additional public meetings were held during the summer at area townships and cities where a snowmobile trail was to be considered, according to a Carver County press release.

District 112 student enrollment is up slightly this year, but the increase is less than last year’s growth.
District 112 had an overall enrollment of 8,934 students, only 52 more than last year at the same time. School districts submit enrollment to the state by Oct. 1.
While growth may be slowing, several schools are over capacity. Clover Ridge Elementary, East Union Elementary, Victoria Elementary and Pioneer Ridge are over their building capacity, as they were last year.

Sons of Norway promotes Norwegian traditions and fraternal fellowship through the cultural and social opportunities.
