Mayor Candidate should probably shop in Chaska

» Read similar stories filed under:

I found the article in the Herald a few weeks ago about feeding the needy people in Chaska at Saint John's very admirable until the part where Jay Rohe's (candidate for mayor) wife who runs the program states that she will be clipping alot of coupons and shopping at Costco. THERE IS NO COSTCO IN CHASKA! I'm sure Gary Cooper, owner of Chaska's County Market appreciated the fact that she will be shopping for this program at Costco considering he has lost a millon dollars in the last year and just received notice his taxes will be going up 13% this year. I really think that if you are running for mayor of Chaska you should probably shop in this community and support the local businesses. Mr Rohe could you be part of the reason the small businesses in Chaska's downtown are suffering?

Can you find any one of the 4-Candidates for Mayor that could truthfully tell you they only shop within the Chaska City Limits?

Including all members within their household?

This would be a good question for the Debate Tuesday night.

How Pathetic!

ON THE FENCE NO MORE!

First let me say how appalled I am that someone would even consider criticizing where someone shops for food for a program that feeds people in need.

Secondly why would you bring a candidates family into the campaign, and slam them for heading up a wonderful heart felt cause.

Whoever posted this really has no sense of decency, or for that matter a moral compass. If you think that this election is about where you spend your money you are sadly way off course.

I would challenge the coward that wrote this to open up their life and let everyone take a look and then comment. What a small minded thing to do.

I am a voter that was on the fence between Mr. Windschitl and Mr. Rohe, I have made my decision. VOTE for JAY ROHE, he cares about all of us!

All I can say is thank you to whomever wrote this. You did the city of Chaska a favor by showing the REAL people that are running for Mayor. Rohe=Good

I agree 100% with Sunshine65.It seems it does not matter if it is small town elections or Washington D.C.. The approach is to sling mud and try to dig up so called "dirt" rather than focus on the issues. A vote for Jay Rohe today is a vote for a better Chaska tomorrow! Jay Rohe has my vote !

Although I have read these blogs from time to time over the past three years this is the first time I have felt compelled to post to them. With that said, I’d ask for calmer heads to prevail here. I know Jay Rohe and Mark Windschitl and neither of these candidates for mayor would condone these kinds of reckless posts period. To condemn Mark Windschitl for this blog is just as irresponsible as condemning Jay Rohe based on the original post. It’s senseless and reckless and I would ask that you do not allow these types of posts, or the emotion they hope to stir, to take control of this election. Support your candidate and please vote on the January 19th.

Thank you Chris.

Someone from Mark's campaign was at my door this weekend with his brochure. I specifically asked if Mark or his campaign staff knows who is making these posts. The answer in my opinion was an honest "no".

Obviously there are some upset people in Chaska and they are using this forum to vent. To blame Mr. Windschitl is unfortunate.

I have been reading everything about these candidates and to ruin someone's reputation with this mud slinging is ridiculous. Stop the senseless personal attacks on innocent community-minded people.

Get back to the facts and the background of each candidate.

I agree that it should be the issues that we discuss. The only reason that Mr. Windschitl was brought into this was that his Facebook page was setup by "LovinChaska". LovinChaska has been culpable in slinging the most "mud" in this campaign. Mr. Windschitl is also listed as a friend of "LovinChaska" on the Facebook page. So with this close connection between Mr. Windschitl and LovinChaska, how can you not draw the conclusion that these attacks are coming from his campaign?

Facebook is an interesting venue. You receive emails to become a friend of someone and you choose to do so or not.

It would appear to me that LoveinChaska rattled the cages on Facebook to support and encourage Mr. Windschitl to run for Mayor. If you were contemplating running for Mayor and someone "unknown" to you, was on Facebook trying to rally the troops, I would assume even you would become their friend? It wouldn't matter who the person is - they obviously like you and want you to run. To assume they are your friend would probably be an accurate assumption.

Yesterday, somewhere there was another blog about his daughters being friends of LoveinChaska on Facebook. Again, if somone unknown to you requests to be your friend and you visually see that they are going above and beyond to support and encourage your father, would you say yes or no to being their friend? Those are the thoughts that entered my mind when I read about Facebook.

Aqusations can be devastating, degrading, and harmful. Not telling the truth can be devastating, degrading, and harmful. One you have control over, the other you don't. Whoever these bloggers are, it appears they are searching for some truth and want answers. Yes, they appear angry. It is unfortunate this happened. I understand how the Rohe's may be upset and be pointing at Mr. Windschitl to blame as in all my reading, he is the major contender against Mr. Rohe. But aqusations are not okay in an election whether you are for Rohe, Windschitl, Willims or Snyder.

I for one am interested in the candidates background, service, vision and experience. Let's stick with the facts.
