There’s something in the water in Clover Ridge – or at least one might presume by the caravan of diaper bags and car seats headed into Angie Kubik’s home last week.
In the last six months, 10 babies have been born to women on and around Grimm Road. This was no pregnancy pact, laughed Sarah Heyer, but more of a happy coincidence. The group of moms and kids now try to get together once a month to catch up with one another and see how much the little ones are growing.
“This neighborhood is really tight knit,” said Heyer, mom to baby No. 2 Natalie.
Andy Cahua-Deloya was the first baby born in 2010 at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee. Cahua-Deloya was born at 11:53 a.m. on January 1. He weighed 7 pounds 15 ounces and was 19-3/4 inches long. Cahua-Deloya is pictured with mom Yuneri Deloya Angelito of Chanhassen and St. Francis Auxiliary representatives Marlene Foudray and Jan Houser. Mom and baby were presented with a gift basket courtesy of the auxiliary.

Ridgeview Medical Center welcomed the first baby of the new year on Friday. A baby girl, Teigan Jade Gallagher, arrived at 5:24 a.m. on Jan. 1, weighing 8 pounds, 11 ounces, and measuring 20 and one-half inches. Her parents are Matthew Gallagher and Beckie Swanson (pictured) of Buffalo.

Brody August Butorac was the first baby born in Ridgeview Medical Center’s new Birthing Center in Waconia. Brody was born at 7:02 p.m., June 30, 2009, to Brandon and Sonja Butorac of Chaska. After a 12-year reign as the most popular baby name, Emily has slipped to third on the list. Emma is now the nation’s most popular name for girls, according to a Social Security Administration press release.
The most popular boy’s name, Jacob, remained the same for the 10th year in a row.
The St. Francis Family Birth Place and Shakopee Early Childhood and Family Education (ECFE) will host a free Community Baby Fair Saturday, June 21, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Francis Regional Medical Center Care North Conference Center in Shakopee.
The event includes a morning of guest speakers, demonstrations, information and free gifts from south metro businesses.
Mini workshops, and demonstrations of upcoming classes in pre/postnatal yoga, baby sign language, car seat safety, and infant massage will be offered.
The Social Security Web site recently released the top baby names for 2007, including:
