When Franken reads this release, he only needs to resort to his Stuart Smalley alter ego, repeating into a mirror: “I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me”

This is the state that elected Jesse Ventura as governor so I would say he definitely has a chance in Minnesota.

The beauty of a Franken candidacy is that he will implode, just like Mike Hatch did. Something will happen, and Franken won't know how to deal with it, so he'll just say (or do) something stupid.

Seriously, though, Franken is one unstable dude, even more so than Jesse Ventura.

This is really the best the DFL can do? There's got to be a better candidate out there. There simply HAS to be.

I noticed this morning that the story of Al Franken announcing his running for the senate in today's Strib was relegated to the region section, lower half.

Could it be that they are trying to show that they're not really liberal, and Franken running for office is no big deal.

Sorry Star Tribune, but like it or not, Al Franken is a national story, and deserved front page placement.

He is going to be a lightning rod, and will continue to be a major story, not unlike when Jessie ran.

Naming the new editor and a story on the new Grand Canyon skywalk is interesting, but either could have been inside the paper.
