Scoreboard
The bill for last month's special election for mayor is in and penny pinchers should be pleased. After estimating the election would cost upwards of $25,000, the final totals came in just over $15,000.
According to City Administrator Matt Podhradsky, the election cost the city $15,830. Money was spent on election judge payroll, ballot printing, county services, machine maintenance, suppies and overtime for two city employees.
Podhradsky credited election coordinator Margo Steffel for keeping costs down. "She was able to find efficiences to keep the costs lower than originally anticipated," he wrote in his biweekly report.

Back to page top$15K for the special election?! Wow, that's really a job well done. I remember during at least one of the coucil meetings it was suggested that the cost of a special election might reach as high as $35K. So, a job well done by our fine election workers and kudos to the council for approving the election. The special election was by far the best solution and I wish Mayor Windschitl the best as our new mayor.
