Let's Go!
Scoreboard
July 21 will mark the end of an era as the Harry Potter book franchise is laid to rest with the final installment: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Sounds ominous.
Time to pull out your crystal balls. What do you think the last book will hold?
Will Harry be able to silence Voldemort forever? And if so, at what cost? Will Harry himself survive the quest? Will he get help in his battle - perhaps from a great wizard that all thought was dead? What side is Professor Snape really on?

Harry Potter must die. I...
Back to page topHarry Potter must die. I think if we expect Voldemort to be vanquished, then Harry will have to die with him. They are too closely connected. I think as much as they share powers, they share the same destiny.
Let's face it, there is little chance that Harry would go on to live a normal wizardly life, marrying Ginny Weasley and taking on a teaching position at Hogwart's. That's a more likely scenario for Ron and Hermione.
Harry's always been known as the boy-who-lived but to end the series, I think he will be more Christ-like. I think he will die so the rest can live.
I would be very surprised and disappointed if J.K. Rowling didn't kill Harry off to conclude her books. It will be bittersweet, but it will be the most appropriate ending to the epic series.

When the book comes out, I'm...
Back to page topWhen the book comes out, I'm going into exile, so I can read it all at once. Kind of like in the movie "The Paper Chase," where the two main characters lock themselves into a hotel room to study for finals. Except, instead of finals, I just sit and read about wizards.
Oh, and Harry must not die.
I saw this t-shirt shortly...
Back to page topI saw this t-shirt shortly after the last book came out. I thought it was HILARIOUS! I'm sure people who follow the series and hadn't finished the book didn't find it quite so funny. Haha!
Harry must live! If he...
Back to page topHarry must live!
If he doesn't, I will be pathetically mopey for at least a week after I read book 7.
I do agree with you though, there's definitely some precedence for the hero-must-die theory, if Jo Rowling is interested in following that particular character arc to the end. Certainly, his death would be fitting--a happy, fluffy ending where Harry skips off into the sunset hand in hand with Ginny doesn't seem all that plausible. I mean, what does one do after killing Voldemort anyway? It's true; the series would be wrapped up much more neatly if Harry just died, a hero.
But that doesn't mean I don't want the poor boy to live! The kid's been through enough, no? I vote "Harry must not die," too.
Better get in line. Looks...
Back to page topBetter get in line. Looks like the Chaska library has seven copies of the new Harry Potter on order. In total, 33 copies will be headed to Carver County libraries. And 107 hold have been placed on those books with a month left before its release. Amazing!

What about the fates of Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger?
No one knows what will happen in the final installment....
Ahhh, but "Gabriel" claims to knows how it all turns out.

"Oh please, these are kids...
Back to page top"Oh please, these are kids books after all. Harry is the hero. Who in there right mind would kill off a kids hero? What ever happened to "Happily Ever After" anyway? Bittersweet...Humbug!!!" -- comment receieved from a reader via email.
