Rod Zivkovich, the District 112 director of finance and operations, has resigned from his position, effective July 1.
Zivkovich (unable to be reached for comment), has returned to the similar position he held with the Bloomington School District prior to coming to District 112, said Nancy Kracke, District 112 director of community/staff relations.
Those interested in running for Chaska City Council or the District 112 school board can begin filing today.
Affidavits of candidacy are now being accepted for council and school board positions. The filing period runs from Aug. 3 through Aug. 17.
On the Chaska City Council, the mayor's seat, a two-year term, as well as the Ward 1 and Ward 3 council positions, both four-year terms, are up for grabs.

State MCA-II test results released recently indicate local District 112 students continue to score better than their counterparts across the state. Students across the state took the tests last spring as a part of the federal No Child Left Behind program.

Jim Bauck began his tenure as the District 112 Superintendent on July 1, replacing David Jennings, who served in the position for the past five years prior to his retirement.
Chaska High School ranks 1,608 in a list of the nation's top high schools, according to a study by Newsweek Magazine.
By comparison, Minnetonka ranked 291 and Eden Prairie ranked 1,128 and Prior Lake ranked 1,479.
According to the magazine only 6 percent of all the public schools in the U.S. made the list.

Carver-Scott Educational Cooperative reached a tentative agreement with its teachers on July 9.
Terms of the agreement were not released, but teachers will vote on the two-year agreement next week, according to CSEC Governing Board Chair Mary Romansky.
The board hopes to ratify the contract at its July 26 meeting. The contract is retroactive to July 2009.
The teachers and governing board have been negotiating the contract since last November.
A 17-year-old Laketown boy was recently arrested and charged with fifth-degree assault and disorderly conduct for urinating in a water mug of a Chaska High School staff member, according to the latest Chaska Police 411 newsletter.
The incident happened about June 1, according to the newsletter, and was reported on June 8 to the police.

The District 112 School Board unanimously approved a 2010-11 school year budget that cuts over $1 million to balance its budget.
The district is reducing expenses by approximately $1,034,800 for the coming year in a number of areas.
A few examples of cost reductions include laying off some media paraprofessionals and high school supervisors; cutting back on the number of school resource officers; and deferring textbook purchases.
The Chaska High School class of 1990 is holding its 20th reunion at 6 p.m., Aug. 14.
The main event is 6 p.m. at Deer Run Golf club in Victoria.
