There is a chance Highway 41 in Chaska could reopen in time for Monday morning's commute.
According to a report from Scott County Emergency Management Director Chris Weldon, the state is making steady progress on fixing the damaged river crossing. Repairs on the shoulders are complete and crews are now concentrating on the slopes and pavement repairs.
The state had been estimating Highway 41 would repon Tuesday.
"While the exact completion date is still dependent on the weather, if the work can continue on the current schedule this road might, and I am saying might, be opened before Monday morning, April 12," Weldon said in a memo to county staff.
The announcement for the reopening will be released as soon as possible. Commuters should check local media outlets throughout Sunday for further information, Weldon said.
The County Road 101 crossing between Shakopee and Chanhassen remains closed.
Soil borings on the County Road 101 crossing were expected to take place today or Monday. Repair of this stretch is hoped to begin Monday or Tuesday.
"At this time there is no announced opening date for the 101 bridge, but crews currently working on 41 will move to 101 and a date for reopening should be easier to estimate at that time," Weldon said.
The Highway 41 and County Road 101 river crossings closed to flooding on March 19, a day after County Road 9 in Jordan. The Jordan bridge re-opened Monday, April 5.
