Preschooler Ryder Clough, from Savage, and classmates ate at the 15th annual Thanksgiving Feast at St. John’s Steppingstone Preschool this week. Students have their own Thanksgiving meal at school while learning the meaning and history of the holiday and are taught table manners, how to converse with new friends and a special Thanksgiving prayer. At a large table full of friends, children sat with their homemade placemats in front of them and began by putting their napkins in their laps and saying a prayer of thanks. Teachers and parents served the meal, consisting of fun finger foods, and children were asked to respond with “yes, please” or “no, thank you.” During the meal, teachers encouraged the children to ask questions of their friends and engage in conversation. well as important social skills.” (Submitted photo)
