Roger William Whipps, 54, of Jordan, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008 at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 3-8 p.m. at Ballard–Sunder Funeral Home in Jordan. There also will be visitation at the church one hour prior to services.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jordan with Father Timothy Yanta and Deacon Al Schroeder presiding.

James “Jim” Hill, 78, of Prior Lake, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital in Shakopee.
Funeral service will be Monday, Oct. 6, at 10 a.m. at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church, 3611 North Berens Road N.W., Prior Lake, with visitation at the church two hours prior to service.

The St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Fall Festival took place Sunday, Sept. 21, in Jordan. The chuch served 1,472 chicken and ham dinners and gave away $4,700 in cash and merchandise.
Raffle tickets cost $2 each. The winners were:
- Sophia Wagner, Zoom whitening, donated by Dr. James Perry;
- Judy Dean, Day-White whitening tray, donated by Woodridge Dental;
- Roselyn Weiers and Lynda Eichten, half hogs, donated by Ralph and Myrna Wermerskirchen;
- Mamie Busch and Otto Chermak, $100 savings bond, donated by Flagship Bank;
The Jordan volleyball team won twice on Friday night at the Lakeville North Invitational to advance to the winners bracket on Saturday.
The Jaguars defeated the No. 8 ranked team in Class 3A Blaine in straight sets and than came from behind to defeat Class 2A power Marshall in three sets.
Holy Family scored 19 unanswered points in the second half to erase a 12-point Jordan lead and win 40-33 on Friday night.
The win improves the Fire record to 5-1 on the season while the loss drops Jordan to 4-2.
Jordan took a 33-21 at 8:25 of the third quarter after Kyle Coglitore scored on a 4-yard run to complete a nine play drive for the Hubmen.

Jordan High School's homecoming parade is a sight to be seen. Lots of kids in haywagons, in the beds of pickup trucks, on the backs of convertibles, marching in the band, even riding horses. It was well attended this year. Check it out:
One of students' favorite parts the annual Jordan High School homecoming celebration is Air Jams, a goofy, friendly competition between singing and dancing acts.
In addition to serving as Jordan police chief, Bob Malz has an extra city to cover.
On Tuesday, he returned to his hometown, Belle Plaine, to serve as interim police chief after the city's former chief resigned.
