There’s Ole:

And then there’s Lena:

Despite being in their twelfth year of fixing up homes around town, Christmas in May organizers never face a shortage of applications. This year was no exception.

“We had 25 applications,” noted longtime organizer Mary Monteith.

Friends and family will be holding a spaghetti benefit dinner for the Venske family at the Chaska Community Center Saturday, April 19. The benefit will be from 5-8 p.m. in the Community Room.

Chaska Moravians will celebrate a long tradition of food and song Sunday as they open their doors to host a lovefeast in honor of their 150th anniversary in Chaska.

Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Chaska will be hosting a vocal concert presented by the Holy Family Catholic High School Camerata and the Holy Family Catholic High School Chorale on Sunday, April 6, 2008.  The concert will be held at 4 p.m. in the church sanctuary and will be followed by a reception in the church’s newly remodeled St. Francis Hall. 

An improbable smile spreads across baby Emma Kissock’s face, and it’s enough to melt the coldest heart. Nearly a year old, Emma has plenty of reasons not to smile, but despite it all, she remains an insufferably happy baby.

“She doesn’t have a care in the world,” said mom Robin Kissock, a 1994 CHS grad. “She’s so happy-go-lucky.”

Earth Day is April 22, but Pastor Gordon Stewart isn’t waiting until then to start talking about the perils planet Earth faces. His latest dialogue series, The Good Green Earth: Sustainability” will tackle just that. It kicks off on Tuesday, April 1 at Shepherd of the Hill Presbyterian Church.

Stewart said he chose this theme because it “trumps every other concern.”

Ah the meat raffle. So distinctly Minnesotan, there is really nothing like it anywhere else.

OK, to be fair, Australian pubs seem to have a similar practice of raffling meat trays to raise money for their sporting teams, but in the United States, when one thinks meat raffle, they think Minnesota.

The annual Legion Auxilary Easter Egg Hunt took place on Saturday, March 22. Snow and cold forced the event indoors, but plenty still partook in the festivities.
