Beating out more than 70 other applicants for the job, former Assistant City Administrator Matt Podhradsky became Chaska’s newest city administrator Monday night.
The City Council voted unanimously to appoint him to the position vacated by David Pokorney in August. The appointment was effective immediately.
Among the items on tonight's Chaska City Council agenda are:

* Approval of lease for old water treatment plant to Love Inc.
* Approval of city administrator contract
Chaska City Council meetings are held the first, third and fifth Mondays of each month at 7 p.m. at Chaska City Hall, One City Hall Plaza.
The Chaska City Council will convene tonight in a special meeting to interview the final two candidates for the new city administrator position.
Finalists are Matt Podhradsky and Samantha Orduno. The council will interview Orduno at 7 p.m. and Podhradsky at 8 p.m. Both interviews will take place in council chambers at City Hall (One City Hall Plaza). The meeting is open to the public.
The more than 70 applications received for the job of Chaska’s new city administrator have been whittled down to the five finalists.
Save energy and money with a new furnace filter. The city of Chaska, in conjunction with the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency, is providing a $15 rebate when residents replace a furnace filter.
Send in a receipt along with a completed rebate form and the city will send a $15 check, regardless of what a customer paid for the filter, according to a city of Chaska press release.

“Fifty-six hundred to forty-seven hundred, Gary’s still the mayor,” Gary Van Eyll announced to a crowd of supporters gathered at the Chaska American Legion Post 57 just after 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Incumbent Van Eyll defeated Ward 4 Councilor Jay Rohe to earn another term as mayor of Chaska. Rohe put on a strong showing and ran a strong campaign, Van Eyll acknowledged.
Gary Van Eyll will continue to serve as mayor of Chaska.
Van Eyll was re-elected by Chaska residents Tuesday night, defeating Ward 4 Councilor Jay Rohe. Van Eyll received 5,632 votes to Rohe's 4,775.
In Ward 2, Greg Boe beat Sarah Machakaire, 2,075 to 1,466.
Rick Ford defeated Mike Huang in Ward 4, 1,306 to 1,018.
Former Chaska City Administrator David Pokorney gave the council an update on the search for his replacement Monday night. Pokorney resigned as city administrator in August, after 24 years with the city.
Pokorney said that they received over 70 applicants for the job with “85 percent being very qualified.”
