Best-bet Valentine's Day movies at the Chaska Rex in downtown Chaska include "Sweet Land" (5:10 p.m. and 7:25 p.m.) and "Music and Lyrics." (5 p.m., 7 p.m.)

“Sweet Land” was filmed in Minnesota, by a Minnesota director based on a story by a Minnesota author. It even co-stars Ned Beatty who lives part of the year near his wife’s hometown of Karlstad, Minn., “Moose Capital of the North.”

“Sweet Land” is a love story set in rural Minnesota of the 1920s. 

“Music and Lyrics,” stars Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant. The title and actors pretty much scream “Valentine’s Day.” However, it’s too early to tell if the movie is any good.

Check out the new marquee on the Chaska Rex (formerly Chaska Cinema). It’s a great addition to downtown. At night it really razzle-dazzles.
