There will be plenty of activities to fill the long Fourth of July holiday weekend in Chaska this year.
The Jonathan Association will hold its annual Jonathan Fourth of July Fun Run Friday. The run begins at 8:15 a.m. at the Early Childhood Center (110600 Village Road) and goes through Jonathan and along the shores of Lake Grace. Runners, walkers and strollers are welcome. Participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt.
The annual Jonathan Fourth of July Kiddie Parade is at 10:30 a.m. The parade begins at the Jonathan General Store (110690 Village Road), and ends at the Karen House (111000 Bavaria Road). The route is three blocks long.
The parade will include a police escort, fire truck, color guard and pep band. All ages are welcome and participants are encouraged to decorate their bikes, scooters, strollers etc. and dress in patriotic colors. Helmets are recommended for those riding bikes and scooters.
At the conclusion of the parade, children can enjoy refreshments, face painting and a show by magician and ventriloquist David Hira and his assistant “Jake.”
All Jonathan Association Fourth of July events are free and open to the public.
The City of Chaska will hold its annual fireworks display later that evening. Fireworks will begin at dusk, around 10 p.m. They will be shot off from the shores of Upper Lake Grace. Recommended viewing locations include McKnight Park and the Chaska Commons.
