I was intrigued by a press release that came in this morning from Traxler’s Hunting Preserve in Le Center.

The Preserve is presenting “Living Military History Day” with a WWII re-enactment of a battle on May 31.

According to Traxler’s, the day will include live cannon fire and mortar fire. At 1:30 p.m., the ‘Battle for France 1944’ will be reenacted with pyrotechnics featured by BPS Motion Picture Weapon and Special Effects, the Traxler's release stated.

The WWII re-enactment will include German-held positions defending against Allied ground and air attacks. WWII vintage aircraft and military period vehicles will be participating in the battle segment of the event.

Over one hundred WWII re-enactors will be attired and equipped as WWII Allied and German soldiers.

I'm fascinated by military re-enactments. I'm always curious as to whether it's tough to find people who want to portray the enemy - such as Nazis. Or (especially for Minnesotans) Confederate soldiers.Are there any re-enactors out there who can help clue me in, as to the nuances of being a re-enactor?
