District 112 music teachers, from left, Tim Bekler, Paul Swanson, Caroline Swanson, JoAnne Hillyer and Nick VanDuzee practice their laundry basket routine for Friday's Jean Lindquist Benefit Concert.
The 11th “Jean M. Lindquist Memorial Scholarship Concert” is Friday, April 4.
Over 20 District 112 music staff will display their talents in a variety show format.
This year’s edition features a number of humorous and creative pieces, such as a selection for laundry baskets, “Hangin’ It Out to Dry.”
Other favorites include performances by the Valley Jazz Big Band, a clarinet choir, brass ensemble, women’s chorus, and many other surprises.
The purpose of the event is to raise money for the Lindquist scholarship, an annual award to senior music students who will participate in collegiate bands and choirs. (They need not be music majors.)
At the same time, this concert honors the memory of Jean Lindquist, who taught music at Chaska Middle School and passed away from leukemia in 1996.
Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. at the Chaska High Auditorium. Tickets can be purchased in advance in the CHS Activities Office, or at the door. Ticket prices are $10 adult; $6 student; and $4 pre-K. All proceeds benefit the fund.
