J.K. Rowling is making me mad

So J.K. Rowling is readying to publish her latest writing creation: "The Tales of Beetle the Bard."

Potterheads will recognize the title of this book because it was first mentioned in Rowling's final installment of the Harry Potter series.

The book was left to Hermione by Professor Dumbledore and contained a series of "wise" tales. Only one of the tales was described in detail in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."

This latest creation will include all of the tales. As a companion piece to the Harry Potter series, it would be delightful to peruse, but alas, 99.99999 percent of us will never set eyes on it.

That's because only seven copies are being published. Six have already been given away as gifts to those that were instrumental in helping Rowling see her series to fruition. The remaining copy will be auctioned off Dec. 13 at Sotheby's with a starting price of $62,000. Chances are its final price will be much higher.

Proceeds from the auction will benefit The Children's Voice, a charitable organization that helps vulnerable children across Europe.

The child in me has to whine about this. Why not make this book available to the public? Those of us going through Potter-withdrawal would likely consider purchasing it. And then a portion of the proceeds could go back to Rowling's charity of choice. Just imagine the dollars (or Euros) that could be flowing back to The Children's Voice!

TELL US: Would you have interest in "Tales of Beetle the Bard"? Should Rowling have opted for a wide release instead of an auction?
