Barbie goes a huntin' - and it's not for a man

Well, the party may be over fellas. If you, like my father, have traditionally used hunting season as an excuse to get away from the ladies and have some quality male-bonding time, beware of the following:

According to a press release from Gander Mountain [1], the "latest craze for the hunting enthusiast is now in a bold new color - pink."

Now, you can be sure that YOU aren't expected to purchase a pink shotgun. That would be silly. But your wife or daughter - well this may be just the thing to appeal to her wilderness side. Can you say family bonding in the deer stand????

"While the male sector of the hunting community may stick to more muted colors, the new pink firearms have been welcomed by those who want to add a feminine touch to their shooting practice," the release stated.

A 20-gauge pink shotgun first hit the shelves last year. According to Gander Mountain, the sales were "strong enough" that they opted to "add a wider selection of pink firearms."

"The junior shotgun offered is made specifically for the young beginner, while the pink pistols offered are for adults," the release said.

Gander Mountain is carrying five exclusive pink firearms:

Remington® 870(TM) Junior 20-Ga. Pink Shotgun
Remington® Model 597(TM) 22LR with Pink Laminate Stock
TAURUS Millenium Pro 9mm Semi-Auto Pistol
TAURUS Millenium Pro 380 ACP Semi-Auto Pistol
TAURUS Millenium Pro 32 ACP Semi-Auto Pistol

Don't get me wrong, that pink pistol is adorable and would go great in my pink Kate Spade bag, but I'm not sure the pink shotgun is enough to convince me that freezing my butt off in the middle of the woods for hours on end in the hopes of spotting, shooting and killing Bambi is something I want to do with my November weekends.

What do you think? Is Gander Mountain sitting on a gold mine of an idea or not?
