The city of Carver is considering new locations for a city hall.
One of the proposals is to locate city hall in the old school house in downtown Carver.
At its Tuesday night work session, the council discussed the idea. According to the city minutes this is how they reacted:
Mary Williamson: “Stated that she felt it was imperative the city hall stay downtown and the schoolhouse would achieve that goal.”
Kerry Peterson & Mike Webb: “Didn’t believe the schoolhouse was a proper site and there were other locations better suited expansion efforts."
Cindy Monroe: “Stated she felt the schoolhouse was her desired site but more information needed to be gathered by staff and if it was determined it wasn’t feasible, she would support another location.”
Jim Weygand: “Asked that staff determine if the parking requirements would prohibit the schoolhouse and it was important to know before design plans are completed.”
The City staff will study the parking requirements at the school house and return to the council with more information at its Oct. 1 meeting.
