The Rev. Conran Schneider, a resident of Talheim Apartments in downtown Chaska, stands in his flower garden on Friday afternoon. Schneider has been working on the garden since March, when he began growing the cannas bulbs. His garden also includes phlox, hibiscus, vincas, petunias, marigolds, zinnias, bleeding heart, dahlias, roses, mass roses and alyssum. Schneider spent $150 to buy the flowers, and volunteers his time tending to the garden, watering it every other day when it’s hot. “It’s very relaxing, and flowers remind me of God’s beauty,” he said. “It’s wonderful to watch them grow.”
