Marilyn Hope Lieb

Marilyn Lieb, 71, of Minnetonka, died Friday, May 18, 2007 in St. Louis Park. She is survived by many family and friends in the area.

Memorial service was Wednesday, May 23 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Eden Prairie. Visitation was held Tuesday evening from 5-8 p.m. at Huber Funeral Home, The Eden Prairie Chapel, 952-949-4970.

Gilbert D. Raser

Gilbert Raser, 89, of Shakopee, died Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at the Lutheran Home, Belle Plaine.

Gilbert as born in Mound, Minn. Oct. 23, 1917 to Theodore and Christine (Jacques) Raser. He married Hildegard Lehnen on Oct. 23, 1958 in Jordan. Gilbert was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed woodworking. He was employed as a punch press operator for Northwest Automatic Products prior to retirement.

Besides his wife, Hildegard, he is survived by brothers, Walter (Rose) Raser of Chaska, Richard (Helen) Raser of Bloomington; sisters, Priscilla Connolly of Mendota, Isabel Schindler of Chaska.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Valentine, Nicholas, Wilbert, Lawrence, Kenneth; sisters, Alice Moers, Elizabeth Hammers.

Visitation was Friday, May 18 from 9-11 am. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Shakopee. Mass of Christian Burial followed the visitation at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. William F. Stolzman officiating. Pallbearers included Myron and Ron Lehnen, Dan Hier, Gene, Steve and Bobby Raser, and Henry Hammers. Interment at Calvary Cemetery in Jordan.

Willmer H. Roepke

Willmer Roepke, 79, of Shakopee, died Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at Friendship Manor Health Care Center in Shakopee.

Born in Stewart, Minn. July 23, 1927, he was the son of Benard and Lilly (Schiroo) Roepke. He married Ordell S. Volinkaty June 9, 1949 in Gaylord.

Willmer served in the United States Air Force during World War II and was a member of Shakopee Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4046 and the Shakopee American Legion Post 2. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Willmer was a retired employee of Lull Engineering in Eagan where he worked as a metal fabricator.

He is survived by children, Lynda (Myles) Brown of Tucson, Ariz., Larry (Lynne) Roepke of Shakopee, LuAnn (Rick) Panning of Chaska; seven grandchildren, Christine Hummel, Luke, Cameron, Kaley and Alexandra Roepke, Brittany and Chance Panning; brothers, Melvin (Adeline) of Hutchinson, Virgil (Joan) of Gaylord, Arnold of Lafayette, Glen (Sharon) of Burnsville, Maynard (Doris) of Inver Grove Heights, Loren (Karen) of Cokato.

Willmer was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Edwin; son-in-law, Dennis Gregory.

Visitation was at the McNearney Funeral Home, Shakopee on Thursday, May 17 from 4-8 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to the service.

The funeral service was held Friday, May 18 at 10 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Shakopee with the Rev. Laura Duffee officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Melvin, Virgil, Arnold, Glen, Maynard, and Loren Roepke. Interment at Valley Cemetery, Shakopee. The Shakopee Veterans Memorial Unit provided military honors.

Karen Sue (Tegeler) Marso

Sue Marso, 60, of Shakopee, formerly of Dubuque, Iowa, died Monday, May 21, 2007, of AML (Acute Myelogenous Leukemia), at her home.Karen Sue MarsoKaren Sue Marso

Karen was born in Dubuque, Iowa Jan. 27, 1947 to Robert and Marian (Brown) Tegeler.

Sue was a true inspiration to others in her battle with AML. Her strong faith and “one day at a time” motto enriched her family and friends. Her welcoming smile, beautiful charm and gracious manner will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Sue enjoyed life to the fullest. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. One of her most favorite destinations was to the North Shore and the little town of Grand Marais. She enjoyed her volunteer work with the elderly and hospice patients through Health Partners Hospice of the Lakes. Sue was an auxiliary member of the Fred Babcock Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Richfield. A special “Thank You” to the dedicated staff at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, the University of Minnesota Bone Marrow Clinic and the wonderful support of Health Partners.

Sue was employed as a dental assistant for 18 years, both in Iowa and Minnesota. She was also a 22 year employee of Health Partners, Bloomington Clinic.

She is survived by her loving husband, David; stepchildren and their spouses, Michael and Rita Marso of Lino Lakes, Julie and Tim Siegle of Belle Plaine, Paul and Nickyla Marso of St. Louis Park; grandchildren, Jacob and Zachary Marso, Lucas and Ryan Siegle and Annigail Marso; brother, Jack Tegeler of East Dubuque, Ill.; two aunts and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation is Friday, May 25 from 4-8 p.m. at the McNearney Funeral Home, 1220 East Third Avenue, Shakopee.

Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, May 26, 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Shakopee with the Rev. Terry Weber officiating. Pallbearers are Jack Tegeler, Tom Marso, Jerry Martinson, Michael Biehn, Lee Anderly and Tim Siegle. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dubuque, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the charity of the donors choice or one of the following: the Leukemia Society, the University of Minnesota Research Department, Health Partners, Hospice of the Lakes or Caring Bridge.org.

Rose Louella Lenzen

Rose Lenzen, 98, of Carver, died Easter Sunday morning, April 8, 2007, at home in Merrifield, Minn.

Rose Louella Lenzen was born Sept. 17, 1908 to Richard and Emma Neunsinger in Carver. She graduated from Carver High School where she met her husband, Erwin Christoph Lenzen. They lived in and enjoyed the community of Carver. They especially enjoyed their family, gardening and playing cards with family and friends.

Rose is survived by her daughters, Lois Ann (Robert) Zenk of Golden Valley and Rose Ann (Alan) Stans of Merrifield; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and wonderful younger friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Erwin “Butch”; parents and siblings.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, April 11 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Carver. Interment followed at Mount Hope Cemetery, Carver.

Yvonne M. Dammann Beneke

Yvonne Dammann Beneke, 70, of Victoria and formerly Hamburg, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 17, 2007.

Services were held Tuesday, May 22, at 7 p.m. at Christ Victorious Church in Chaska with the Rev. Thomas Braun officiating. Serving as honorary casket bearers were her grandchildren. Interment was at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Green Isle.

Yvonne was born on Feb. 1, 1937 in Sumter Township, McLeod County, Minnesota, the daughter of Clarence and Elsie (Jensen) Ortloff. She was baptized and confirmed at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. Yvonne graduated from Glencoe High School in 1955. On Aug. 2, 1958, Yvonne was united in marriage with Harlan Dammann at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. The couple made their home in Hamburg and were blessed with three sons. Harlan passed away on Dec. 3, 1993. Yvonne married Gerald Beneke on Nov. 27, 1997.

Yvonne worked for the Carver County Social Services for many years. She was actively involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities, her church and was a former member of Central School Board. Yvonne was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her family, shopping, golf, sports, reading and travel. She will be greatly missed by all those whose hearts she touched.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Elsie; husband of 39 years, Harlan; sisters Ilo and Vivian.

Yvonne is survived by her loving family, husband, Jerry; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Julie Dammann of Maynard, Minn.; son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Terri Dammann of Waconia; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Dawn Dammann of Victoria; Jerry’s children, Paul and Katie Beneke of Ashland, Ore.; Tony and Amber Beneke of Green Isle, Minn.; grandchildren, Nathan Dammann, Molly Dammann, Tyler Dammann, Madelin Dammann, Ellie Dammann, Conner Dammann, Carly Dammann, Josie Beneke and Viola Beneke; sister, Betty Wittenberg of Gibbon, Minn.; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Denny Wandrei of Glencoe; as well as many other relatives and friends.
