The Chaska/Chanhassen American Legion Post 57/580 baseball team won three of five games at the Jim Hanus Memorial Gopher Classic this past weekend.
Chaska/Chan started pool play with a 5-1 loss to Yankton, S.D. on Friday at the Eden Prairie High School field, but came back to whallop St. Louis Park 13-0.
Post 57/580 then topped the Rochester A's 4-1 on Friday and bested Grand Rapids 7-1 on Sunday, as Jeff Pavlovich had a home run and a double.
Chaska/Chan then fell 6-5 to Eden Prairie on Sunday evening. John Straka had a solo home run in the first inning to boost the locals, but EP scored five times in the first two innings to retake the lead.
EP and CC both had 3-2 overall records, while Yankton went on to win the pool with a 4-1 mark.
Yankton advanced to the finals, played at the Metrodome on Monday and Tuesday.
CC continues play this week at Athletic Park, hosting Hutchinson at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The team plays Wednesday at Apple Valley, hosts Eagan at 7 p.m. on Thursday, hosts Burnsville at 7 p.m. on Saturday and Excelsior at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 21.
The Sub-District Tournament gets under way July 25.
