At approximately 1:55 p.m., Saturday, July 19, a 16-year-old died in a one-vehicle crash on County Road 123 near Watertown.

The driver was identified Monday morning as Aaron John Kelzer, son of Mark and Colleen Kelzer, of Mayer.

According to a press release from the Carver County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred when a 1999 gold Ford pickup truck, northbound on County Road 123, left the roadway, struck a power pole and rolled.

Kelzer was the lone occupant. Watertown Fire Rescue personnel extricated Kelzer, who was airlifted by Lifelink Helicopter from the scene to Hennepin County Medical Center. Kelzer died at the hospital.Emergency services that responded to the crash included the Carver County Sheriff’s Office, Watertown Fire Rescue, Mayer Fire Rescue, Ridgeview Medical Center Ambulance, and Lifelink III Helicopter.  The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
