On July 4 and 5, Carver County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped two stolen vehicles in separate incidents.
One of the stolen cars contained property believed taken in a burglary of the McDonalds Restaurant in Waconia, according to a press release from Carver County Sheriff Bud Olson.
At 8:45 p.m., July 4, deputies ran the registration on a 1994 Ford F-150 maroon pickup in Waconia. A computer check listed the vehicle as stolen out of the city of Minneapolis. Deputies stopped the vehicle on Highway 5 near Krey Avenue in Laketown Township and arrested the 65-year-old male driver from Minneapolis for possession of stolen property, the release stated.
At 3:02 a.m., July 5, deputies stopped a car observed speeding west from Waconia on Highway 5.
After a short pursuit, the vehicle was stopped at highways 5 and 25. The driver was an 18-year-old Minnetonka man.
Also in the vehicle was a male 16-year-old runaway from Rochester, a 19-year-old man from Rochester, and an 18- and 20-year-old man from Minneapolis.
A check of the car indicated the 2003 silver Toyota Camry was listed as stolen out of Shakopee.
All five individuals were transported to the Carver County Jail for questioning.
At 4:30 a.m., deputies received a report that the Waconia McDonalds Restaurant had been burglarized.
Deputies alleged that property in the stolen Toyota matched the description of property stolen in the McDonalds burglary.
