April 21, 2008 - 2:40pm — Mark Olson
The Carver County Health Partnership is sponsoring a public forum, called “Teens, Technology and Trouble: With Overview Discussion of Student Survey Data.” The forum is 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 22 at the Pioneer Ridge Freshmen Center. Another forum will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday April 29 at Waconia High School, 1400 Community Drive in Waconia. The forum will address public safety concerns involving young people and the Internet, including sites such as MySpace and Facebook. Presenters at the Chaska event include County Attorney Jim Keeler; Richard Scott of the Carver-Scott Educational Cooperative; Maureen Farrell from the Carver County Health Partnership; and Chaska Police officers Trent Wurtz and Mike Kleber. The purpose of the forum will be to increase awareness and understanding of the links and risks associated with technology use among teens and with underage drinking and other high-risk activities. The meeting will include an overview and discussion of the 2007 Minnesota Student Survey data for Carver County.
