A man robbed Burger King in Shakopee by gunpoint late Tuesday and may have tried robbing a gas station the night before.
The suspect, who displayed a black handgun and knife, followed an employee through the back door of Burger King about 11:50 p.m. after the store closed and the employee was taking out the trash. He fled on foot with a small amount of cash. The restaurant is located on the corner of Marschall Road and First Avenue.
At Payless Gas, 312 First Ave. W. in Shakopee, a man approached the
counter to buy something about 7:30 p.m. Monday. When the clerk opened
the register, he tried to grab cash from the till, but was unsuccessful
and fled on foot. No weapon was shown.
The suspect is described as a while male between 20 and 25 years old
with a slim build and about 5 feet 8 inches tall. He wore a red or
orange sweatshirt with the hood up, and, at Burger King, also had long
brown shorts on and a red bandana covering his mouth.
Neither store captured surveillance video, so police are asking other
businesses who may have seen the man at their stores to contact police
in hopes of locating a surveillance image.
Shakopee Police Officer Brian Clark said the suspect may have been lurking around, scoping out places to rob.
"It wasn't a lot of cash, so he may strike again soon," Clark said.
