![]() Looking for love in high-traffic places
March 13, 2008 - 11:31am — Mollee Francisco
Barbara Bach is looking for love. But rather than put an ad in the paper or sign up with an online service, Bach is using her business’s sandwich board sign to try and catch the eye of a passing motorist. In addition to advertising her self-proclaimed “best malts in the county,” the chatty redhead’s sign reads “Looking for a great relationship. Inquire within.” “I’ve done the liars, the cons, the cheats,” she said. “I’m looking for the real thing.”
“Everyone’s telling me you have to let people know you’re looking,” she said. So far, the sign has elicited more confusion than dates, Bach said, but she remains determined. “He’s got to be out there,” she said. Bach has lived in Chaska for the last six years and has owned It’s Just Perfect for the last two. She is a long-time divorcee, with two sons and a new set of twin grandsons. “I was married 20 years ago,” she said. “But I’ve got no baggage.” Bach said she’s not necessarily looking for marriage, but rather someone to share her life with. For the record, she prefers non-smokers between 45 and 50 years old. She’s looking for a confident man who loves to laugh, is a good communicator and is high energy. “I can’t handle a couch potato,” she said. Bach noted that he doesn’t have to be a Chaska man, but a fellow entrepreneur would be great. “Someone as gutsy as me,” she said. A good first date option would be dinner and a walk, Bach said. “You always know how a man treats a woman at dinner.” Bach encourages interested men to come into her store and “check out the goods.” “If they don’t like what they see, I make a good malt,” she said with a wink and a laugh. -Mollee Francisco
