The eagle has not landed

Local photographer Josh Hed captured this bald eagle in flight this morning at an area lake. “I saw the eagle flying rather low over a county road. The closer I got the lower it flew,” Hed noted.

Beautiful picture.

Reminds me of an encounter I had this past winter. I was snowmobiling across Gifford Lake (just south of the Highway 41 Minnesota river crossing) and saw a baldy soaring at low altitude. He/she took roost in a large tree on the edge of lake near me. I shut off my machine and just sat there in amazement wishing that I would have brought my camera.
