The Hawks, rated fourth in the Class 3A poll, stayed atop the Lake Conference standings with a 25-14, 31-29, 25-20 victory over Apple Valley on Thursday.

The Hawks upped their record to 15-2 on the season with a four-game victory on Tuesday at Lakeville South.

Chaska won the first two games 25-23 and 25-16, before the Cougars forced a fourth game with a 30-28 win. The Hawks quickly closed the match with a 25-13 finale.

Junior middle hitter Chelsie Stahl had a big night at the net, and outside hitter Amanda Unze also helped the Hawks to the victory.

“We had some awesome rallies that we won,” Hawk coach Sue Murphy said. “We showed really good focus.”

After the victories over the Lake foes which each received ratings votes in Monday’s poll, the Hawks travel to the Alexandria Tournament on Saturday.

Alexandria is No. 10 in the current Class 3A poll, Wadena-Deer Creek is No. 10 in the Class 2A poll, and Renville County West has received poll votes in Class A.

The Hawks then play at Bloomington Jefferson on Tuesday, and close the regular season Oct. 18 with the annual Chaska Invitational, which includes St. Michael-Albertville, rated third in the current poll.

“There’s lot of good volleyball to be played,” Murphy said. “The girls get along so well; it’s nice to see that in a team.”
