No votes yet

The Chaska baseball team has few games left at Athletic Park as the high school season winds down.

But for the trio of Hawk senior captains bound for college programs, there will be some more time at the old ballpark.

Brad Hand, Cory Glieden and John Straka were selected to play for the West Metro team in the Lions All-Star Series, set for June 19-21 at Athletic Park.

It is the first time three Hawks were picked to play in the series in the same season.

Hand a lefthanded pitcher and first baseman, has signed to play for Arizona State University. It is speculated that he will be selected in the first few rounds of the June amateur baseball draft.

Straka, a catcher and righthanded pitcher, has signed with North Dakota State University.

Glieden, a lefthanded shortstop, has signed to play ball for the University of Iowa.

Chaska has three regular-season games left: 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14 at Rosemount; 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 15 at Alimagnet Park in Burnsville; and the regular-season finale at home, 7 p.m. Saturday against Mayer Lutheran.
