There was little surprise that Eden Prairie swept the Lake Conference boys and girls team titles on Friday at Eagan High School.

And there was equally little surprise that Chaska's teams had high finshes as well.

The Hawk boys team took second place in the Lake Conference Championships. The Eagles had 39 points to easily outdistance the Hawks' total of 88.

Chaska senior Matt Babcock took seventh place in the race, covering the 5,000-meter course in 17 minues, 6.4 seconds.

Junior runner Kyle Economy finished 12th with 17:10.6 for Chaska, and Michael Rodriguez ran 17:18 to finish 19th overall.

Senior Sam Peterson crossed the line two seconds later for 22nd place, junior Charlie Merker ran 17:35.4 for 30th place, senior Griffin Kilber took 35th place in 17:41.7.

Chaska's girls team took third place in the Lake Conference Meet on Friday.

Hawk runner Kaila Urick continued her super sophomore season with an All-Conference finish, taking third place with a time of of 15:11.3 for the 4,000-meter course.

Eden Prairie senior Cassy Opitz won the race in 15:01.4, four seconds ahead of sophomore teammate Alexandra Rudin.

Eighth-grader Jenna Urick finished 15th overall for the Hawks, running 15:50.7. Hawk eighth-grader Claire Bulat took 18th place with 15:55.7.

The Hawks bunched up after that, as six runners finished in a 20-second span.

Sophomore Jessica Lynch was 40th overall in 16:27. Then, sophomore Megan Feyereisen took 43rd in 16:29.8, along with senior Lauren Carlson and junior Sarah Woodland in 44th and 44th place, respectively.

Madison Miler, a freshman, finished 50th for Chaska with 16:43.8 and sophmore Nicole Franz took 58th in 16:54.5.

Chaska will run in Tuesday's Shakopee Invitational, held at Memorial Park.
