Chaska swim captains: Front row: Rachel Bailey, Erin Sattervall, Sam Getty. Back row: Kacie Ryan, Sammy Sparrow.
Chaska’s girls swim team has gone back and forth the length of the pool, over and over, swimming several to a lane during long morning practice sessions.
Now, it’s time to clear the pool and set up the clock.
Chaska hosts Bloomington Kennedy at 5 p.m. today (Thursday, Aug. 28) in the team’s first Lake Conference dual of the season.
“They’re looking good,” Hawk coach Kristen Nicholson said of the swimmers. “I’m psyched; it’s going to be an awesome season.”
The Hawks have some experience returning to the water this year, as Sam Getty swam in two individual events at the 2007 state meet. She finished 20th in the 200 individual medley and 13th in the 500 freestyle at state.
Getty also was part of a state-qualifying 200 medley relay team. Junior swimmers Emma Janowski and Megan Knudson also return from the relay quartet, along with a trio of state-meet alternates: senior Rachel Bailey and juniors Lauren Johnson and Brooke Zhorne.
Getty, Knudson and Janowski are also All-Lake Conference swimmers.
“We’re looking for a lot of wins this year,” Nicholson said.
