When Chaska City Administrator David Pokorney received the Dr. Robert A. Barrett Award for outstanding service to local government from the Minnesota City/County Management Association earlier this month, it was a rare surprise for the man who is usually ‘in-the-know.’

More than a thousand of Jonathan Association homeowners have yet to pay their annual association dues this year.

Hospice: The council approved the site plan for a Ridgeview Medical Center hospice on the shores of Lake Bavaria

Government center: The council approved a parking variance and building addition for the Carver County Government Center.

The Minnesota Renaissance Festival announces its audition times for the 2008 season. Auditions are being held for musicians, ensembles, street performers, dancers, stage combat performers and actors, according to a Ren Fest press release. 

 This is more like it. Minnesotans may have already forgotten what a poor spring this has been, weatherwise. So I thought I’d throw out this photo (before and after, so to speak) of “Dancing Family,” the bronze sculpture which sits in front of the Chaska Community Center. The first photo was taken March 21, after Chaska received 8-1/2 inches of snow (our record for the season). The second was taken May 19, when the trees were in full bloom. What a difference two months makes.
