Guardian Angels to hold concert this Sunday
April 2, 2008 - 1:19pm — Mollee Francisco
Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Chaska will be hosting a vocal concert presented by the Holy Family Catholic High School Camerata and the Holy Family Catholic High School Chorale on Sunday, April 6, 2008. The concert will be held at 4 p.m. in the church sanctuary and will be followed by a reception in the church’s newly remodeled St. Francis Hall. According to a press release, John M. Popke, director of choirs and vocal music at Holy Family will be directing the concert. Popke says that the entire vocal music team at HFCHS is excited to be a part of the 150th Anniversary Celebration at Guardian Angels. “Many of our student performers are alumni of Guardian Angels School and current parishioners. They are thrilled with the opportunity to share in this historic celebration,” Popke stated. Some highlights of the concert will include a duet by Sarah Johnson and Jamie Moore, both of whom graduated from Guardian Angels School, and a selection of Irish Ballads sung by Guardian Angels parishioner and HFCHS parent Joanne Winthroath. Teresa Schmidt, the music director at Guardian Angels, says that this concert is a perfect addition to the 150th Anniversary celebration. “It’s wonderful to welcome the HFCHS performers to our historic church. Their beautiful voices are a testament to the power of faith that has guided the Church of the Guardian Angels on its 150-year journey.”
