Should marriage be gender-neutral in Minnesota?

Minnesotan Doug Benson recently proposed the Marriage and Family Protection Act to make marriage a gender-neutral proposition in Minnesota. It was introduced to the Minnesota legislature with 14 House sponsors and 5 Senate supporters. You can read more about it here.

Chan native to appear on Jeopardy

Chan resident to appear on JeopardyJeopardy! recently announced its 2008 College championship, scheduled to tape at the University of Wisconsin in Madison on April 11 and 12.

Contestants include Meredith Johnson, 21, a University of Minnesota student hailing from Chanhassen.

The winner will take home a grand prize of $100,000.In the first week of the competition, each player will appear in one of the five episodes.

The winners of each of these shows, along with the next four highest money earners, will go on to the semi-finals. In the second week, the nine semi-finalists will compete in three episodes for a place in the two-game final match. The second place contestant is guaranteed a minimum of $50,000, and third place pockets a minimum of $25,000. Semi-finalists receive $10,000, and players eliminated in the first week receive $5,000.  

The two-week competition will broadcast nationally starting Monday, May 5 through Friday, May 16.

Johnson is the only Minnesota student in the competition.

Russ Schumacher, a 1997 CHS graduate won more than $300,000 on the show in 2003-04.
