Martin Fritz

Marty Fritz, 48, of Jordan, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008 in Henderson, Minn.

Memorial service was held Tuesday, Sept. 2, at the Bertas Funeral Home, Chaska, with Chaplain Cathleen Burns officiating.

Marty was born Aug. 11, 1960 to Mercel and Julaine (Buesgens) Fritz. He was one of 11 children.

Marty was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dave, Ricky, Dale and Paul Fritz.

Survivors include son, Joseph of Becker; brothers and sisters, Debbie (Dale) Ruehling of Nisswa, Randy Fritz of Chaska, Chuck Fritz of New Prague, Brenda (Bill) Anderson of Breezy Point, Mary Fritz (Tim Fogarty) of Henderson, Phil (Deb) Fritz of Chaska; sister-in-law, Mary Fritz of Watertown.

Funeral arrangements were with the Bertas Funeral Home of Chaska, 952-448-2137.

Jeanine S. Schmieg

Jeanine Schmieg, 73, of Victoria, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis.

Funeral service was held Friday, Aug. 29, at St. Victoria Catholic Church in Victoria with Father Robert White celebrating. Casketbearers were Jessica, Jason, Justin, Shea, Jaren and Corinn. Honorary casketbearer was Natalie. Inurnment was at the church cemetery.

Jeanine was born July 17, 1935 in Chaska to Joseph and Anna (Wudke) Burkhart. Jeanine was one of eight children. She was baptized and confirmed at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Chaska. Jeanine graduated from Guardian Angel High School in 1954. On May 8, 1956, Jeanine married Jim Schmieg at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Chaska. They had four sons.

Jeanine loved to play cards, bake and cook in the kitchen, but most of all loved spending time with her family and friends during the holidays.

Jeanine was preceded in death by an infant son, James.

Survivors include her husband, Jim; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and wife Cindy of Waconia, Jeff and wife Judy of Chaska, Kevin Schmieg and Mary-Beth Kennedy of Minnetrista, Joe and wife Dawn of Victoria; grandchildren, Jessica and Jason Felten of Jordan, Justin and Shea Schmieg of Battle Lake, Minn., Jaren Schmieg of Chaska, Corinn Schmieg of Waconia, Natalie Schmieg of Victoria; great-granddaughter, Emma Felten of Jordan, Justin Gedde of Battle Lake; sisters and brother, Mary Lou Majerus of Rochester, Bob Burkhart and wife Mary of Chaska, Joan Rief of Shakopee, Marilyn Schneewind and husband Jerry of Ottertail, Minn., Margaret Worm and husband Le Roy of St Boni; sister-in-law, Madelyn Guettler and husband Jerry of Cologne; brothers-in-law, Herb Schmieg of Texas, Jerry Schmieg and wife Gerda of Victoria; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Jean M. Bongard

Jean Bongard, 75, of Chaska, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008 at Fairview Southdale in Edina. Jean BongardJean Bongard

Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Victoria Catholic Church, Victoria, with Father Bob White as Celebrant of the Mass. Visitation at St. Victoria Catholic Church from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, with vigil prayers at 7 p.m. Tuesday night; visitation also one hour prior to the Mass at church. Interment at St. Victoria Catholic Cemetery.

Jean was born March 21, 1933 in Waconia, the daughter of Florian J. and Helen P. (Kolb) Notermann. Jean was both baptized and confirmed at St. Victoria Catholic Church in Victoria. On June 30, 1953 Jean M. was united in marriage to Willard F. Bongard at St. Victoria Catholic Church in Victoria. Casketbearers are grandchildren.

Jean was a loving wife, mom, grandma. She cherished every family outing and minute spent with her family. Holy Family Catholic High School has been built on their century-old family farmland. Jean was a life-long community and church leader. She taught faith formation at St. Victoria for nearly 40 years beginning in 1969, continuing until present day. She enjoyed the rewards she felt teaching over 600 children. She was also a long-time Catholic Aid Association member, leader and serving as secretary. She also served on the Fraternal Activities Committee. Jean loved to welcome new faces to the Victoria Community by participating in the “Welcome Neighbor” service.

Jean is preceded in death by her father and mother Florian J. and Helen P. (Kolb) Notermann; step-mother, Ann (Kolb) Notermann; brother, James Notermann.

Jean is survived by her loving family, husband of 55 years Willard; children, Allan (Carol Anderson) Bongard of Cologne, Barbara Bongard of Chaska, Kurt (Joanna) Bongard of Waconia, Gregg (Phyllis) Bongard of Faribault, Lois (James) Hansel of Chaska, Nancy (Alvaro) Gomez of Chanhassen and Tracy (Timothy) Ketchem of Victoria; grandchildren, Andrew, Cortney, Jacob, Kristen, Jason, Joseph, Laura, Kelsey, Samantha, Alexandra, William, Alexander and Carol Anderson’s children Cory and Daved; brother, George (Diane) Notermann of Waconia, sister-in-law, Pat Notermann of Bloomington; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Merc (Margaret) Bongard of Minnetonka, Roger Bongard of Winter Haven, Fla., Dorothy Bongard of Victoria, Bernie (Dorothy) Bongard of Farmington, Jeanette Golden of Savannah, Ga., Florence (Bill) Payne of Birmingham, Ala., Gerene Kee of Minnetonka, Issy Kroening of Chaska, Harry Bongard of Eden Prairie, Donna Berreth of Atlanta, Ga., Donny Bongard of Victoria; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
