The following obituaries are from the May 22, 2008 print edition of the Chaska Herald newspaper:

Leonetta Opal Goff

Leonetta Goff, 57, of Chaska, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at her home.

Funeral service was held Monday, May 19, at 1 p.m. at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Mound, with the Rev. Tom Evans officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the service.

Funeral arrangements were with the Bertas Funeral Home, Chaska. 952-448-2137

Doris Bertha Marquart

Doris Marquart passed peacefully away Sunday, May 18, 2008 at the age of 96.

She was formerly from Waukesha, Wis., where she was a surgical team RN. Since the year 2000 she resided at Auburn West Nursing Home in Waconia. She never married and wanted to be relocated to live close to her remaining family.

She is survived by two nieces, Sara L. Hanlon of Chaska and Mary C. Martin of Richfield; grandniece, Rebecca Martin; great-grandniece, Bryanna Martin, both of Chicago.

Doris will be interred in the family cemetery in Spooner, Wis. (time later to be determined) and there will be a graveside service.

Helen Alma Finch

Helen Finch, 82, of Bloomington and formerly of Richfield, died Monday, May 19, 2008 at the MN Masonic Home in Bloomington.

Memorial service will be held Thursday, May 22, at noon at the MN Masonic Home, 11501 Masonic Home Drive, Bloomington. A private family inurnment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Helen was born March 16, 1926, in St. Paul to August and Sigrid (Thysell) Grittner.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James, and sister, Virginia Olson.

Survivors include her son, Dr. Stephen Finch and wife Sherry of Chaska; grandson, Dr. Justin Finch of Minneapolis; granddaughter, Marissa (Tim) Coley of Durham, N.C.; brother, Donald Grittner of St. Paul; nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were with the Bertas Funeral Home of Chaska. 952-448-2137.

Wilbur A. Schroers

Wilbur Schroers, 83, of Shakopee, died Friday, May 16, 2008 at St. Gertrude’s Health Center in Shakopee.Wilbur SchroersWilbur Schroers

Wilbur was born in Chaska on June 10, 1924 to William and Elsie (Lunner) Schroers. He married Patricia M. Taranto on June 27, 1945 in Shakopee. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, and the Minnesota Water Fowl Association. Wilbur was a retired 27-year employee of Rahr Malting, and with his wife Patricia and his family currently own and operate The Tole Bridge Art Gallery in Shakopee.

Besides his wife, Patricia, he is survived by children, Dean, Karen (Greg) Gillum, John (Patti) Schroers, Steve (Betty) Schroers, Mary Wallace and Mike Pflug, Pam (Don) Meger, Pat (Sandy) Schroers; 25 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dolly Ess, Bernice (Larry) Samstad; brother, Roger (Pat) Schroers.

He was preceded in death by infant son; parents; nine brothers and sisters.

Visitation was Sunday, May 18, from 3-7 p.m. at the McNearney Funeral Home, Shakopee.

Mass of Christian Burial was 10 a.m. Monday, May 19, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Shakopee, with the Rev. Mark Wehmann, the Rev. James Kim and Deacon James Thornton officiating. His grandsons served as pallbearers; Christopher, Phil, Tom, Joe, Nick, Andrew, Aaron, Michael, Willie and Sam Schroers, Tony Paggen, Joshua Bode, Jeremy Wallace, Mathew, Jason and Jacob Meger. Interment at Catholic Cemetery, Shakopee.
