Should marriage be gender-neutral in Minnesota?

Man charged in Watertown shooting

Ryan Carl Lindeen, 44, has been charged with five felonies in the May 1, shooting in Watertown Township, according to a press release from Carver County Attorney Jim Keeler.

Lindeen was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, two counts of first-degree burglary and two counts of second degree assault for the shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of Thursday, May 1, the press release stated.

The top charge carries with it a statutory mandatory minimum sentence of 60 months in prison, although prosecutors may seek a longer sentence.

The complaint alleges that Lindeen went to the victims’ home in the early morning hours of May 1, 2008 with a .22 caliber rifle.

Lindeen entered the home through the garage and confronted both victims. The male victim and Lindeen went outside where a struggle ensured over the rifle, the release stated. Lindeen also had a handgun in his possession.

The female victim followed the two men outside. During the struggle Lindeen allegedly shot the female victim in the arm and ankle, according to the press release. Lindeen allegedly attempted to shoot the male victim, the release stated.

Both victims retreated back into their home and called 911.

Lindeen allegedly fled the scene in his vehicle and was later located in Winsted, in McLeod County.

Law enforcement allegedly located a number of items including a handgun and rifle in his vehicle. Lindeen was arrested and taken to the Carver County jail, where he remains.The female victim suffered gun shot wounds to her arm and ankle and was hospitalized. The male victim did not suffer any serious physical injuries.

Lindeen has a prior felony conviction in Minnesota for burglary in the first degree from July 2, 1984.

He will appear in Carver County District Court this morning.
